Who we are

The Intellectual Property Association Pakistan (IPAP) is an independent, authoritative and legitimate body of IP owners and their practitioners and professionals in Pakistan. According to its legal mandate, IPA Pakistan is devoted to create a national environment in which intellectual property rights are respected and protected by all means. IPA intends to work for their members to safeguard their rights and business interests for the promotion of economic growth and to uplift the national image of Pakistan in the global community.

Vision

To create an environment in which IPR culture is respected, protected and promoted at national level and providing advocacy of effective & affordable IP ownership rights along with implementing a vigorous IP system in Pakistan.

Scope of Work

IPAP core focus is to provide a national platform where IP owners from different walks of life and industries can come together and voice their views ultimately working towards creating a positive and effective IP culture in Pakistan. According to the article and memorandum of association, our scope of work is as follows:

• Making a priority to strengthen and make it a legal framework to ensure implementation and effective enforcement measures against intellectual property theft.
• Encourage government action and the allocation of resources towards the improved IPR enforcement.
• Clearly designating the bodies responsible for intellectual property enforcement and allocating sufficient financial and human resources to allow them to be effective.
• Capacity building trainings for enforcement officials such a s police, FIA, customs as well as the IP officials on a national and cross border basis with the support of rights holder and international organizations.
• Keeping the costs affordable and low for obtaining, maintaining and enforcing intellectual property rights.
• Motivating the initiatives of special incentives for the development of indigenous resources technological innovation and the development of domestic intellectual property assets.
• Aids, assists and facilitate owners of intellectual property and fosters ties of mutual friendship and understanding among those who are practicing in the field of intellectual and industrial property law and through such ties promotes the protection and development of intellectual and industrial property.
• Gathers, consolidates and disseminates commercial market intelligence and assists in developing markets by ensuring reduction in transaction costs to facilitate trading in IPR's
• Educating local communities, trade bodies, academia, business houses and the concerned.
• Government authority potential benefits of the intellectual property system.
• Providing assistance to innovators, producers, creators and business manages on how to use Intellectual property protection to their commercial advantage and supporting efforts of stakeholder organizations in this area.
• Establishing an active and coherent intellectual property policy coordinated throughout government bodies.
• Ensuring that procedures for obtaining, maintaining and enforcing the law of intellectual property rights are simple and user friendly.
• Seeking to improve the voluntary exchange of information and best practices with industry sectors and associations in order to accelerate the implementation of anti-piracy and anti-counterfeiting policies and measures.
• Provides customized corporate services such as legal consultancy in intellectual property rights and in related areas such as anti-dumping and anti-competition, IP audits and anti-trust laws and respond to questions affecting intellectual and industrial property law and the interest of the Association.
• Carries out research and development activities for development and protection of IPR's. Encourages innovation of IPR's by interacting and keeping pace with developments outside the country and engages in activities conjunction with other bodies or association within the limits of the Association's objects.
• Seeks affiliation with regional or international bodies with objects similar to the objects of the association and participates in the activities of such regional or international bodies keeping in view the fact that personal empowerment and convergence plays a crucial role in the IPR issues.
• Extend legal expert services for IP Dispute Resolution among Association Members.
